SPONSORSHIPS: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What will I get as a sponsor? A: Initially as a sponsor you will be create a login and chose a password that allow you to enter our secure site. Here you can make donations and read any general updates we have o on our work with the children. You will also receive electronic receipts for any donations. Children’s information such as the child’s picture, well-being and education will be updated once yearly and general reports on the children’s homes will be available quarterly. Sometimes it may take us a month or two, but we will assign you to a specific child that you can track with and pray for. You will be notified by email when this child’s information is available or updated. Q: How is my child benefited by my monthly contribution? A: The sponsorship money you send is added to that of other people who sponsor children in the same home as your child. Your support enables Divine Inheritance to provide benefits such as education, health care, and shelter, community development (for the Home) for the children. The costs of keeping records, providing caseworkers, staff and house parents, and meeting emergencies are also covered. Wherever possible we work through the vehicle of the national church to give your child the opportunity to grow up in a community of believers. In many areas, sponsorship funds can cross apply to help the entire community where we feel it will strategically benefit the children. Often DI helps with water projects and provides agricultural assistance to improve health and food security. Adults and young people may receive vocational training and classes in agriculture, hygiene or literacy. We offer help with these things and more — according to the needs of the community — in a long term perspective it import to support the church community because they are the ones that visibly help us stand in the gap for these children today and in the years to come. Also included is the cost of supporting such programs on the field. Q: Can I send packages to my sponsored child? A: We really understand your desire to send gifts and letters to your sponsored child. However, DI has a is not able to accept packages for the following reasons: · Complexity of foreign postal regulations · Expensive duty charges in many locations · Slow delivery –creating hard to compensate lag time. · Potential loss, theft or damage · Difficulty getting packages to children in isolated and restricted access locations · Potential feelings of unfairness created in the home by one child receiving numerous or expensive gifts and other nothing. Q: Can I send money directly to my sponsored child? A: We apologize that we cannot directly send personal monetary gifts to your sponsored child. Q: How can I send a money gift to my sponsored child? A: Because it costs us more to administrate special money gifts we request that special money gifts for sponsored children be $100 or more. Gifts less than $100 are designated to the general sponsorship funds. Field staff will determine the child’s special needs. These needs often include housing improvements, farm animals, clothing, and school supplies. You should receive an acknowledgement within five months telling you how the money gift was used. Q: How can I share the love of God with my sponsored child? A: The majority of our work is in logistically difficult and high-risk regions. Because of this we are limited in our ability to create a consistent flow of communication. The benefit of working in restricted access regions is you a touching a child that very few people would even dream of being able to help. We have to protect this child. That is why you are partnering with us. So pray with us for your “adopted” child and pray the day comes on this earth that you can write, send small gifts and even meet this child in person. Q: Can I contribute by credit card? A: Yes. You can give by credit card using DI’s secure site (LINK HERE) or if you are committing specifically to sponsor a child,(LINK HERE) Q: Can I send more than one month's gift for my child? A: Your commitment may be prepaid quarterly, semi-annually or annually. Q: When will my sponsored child no longer need assistance? A: There is no set age limit for children for beginning or ending a sponsorship. A child may be in their late teens but still need to attend school or study learn trade skills. We will notify you when transition time occurs and your sponsored child is able to launch out on their own to care for themselves. Q: How long is a child in the sponsorship program? A: The goal of Divine Inheritance sponsorship is to bring the child to the juncture where they can transition onwards… This is the day when this child is healthy physically and spiritually and has been equipped education, training, leadership skills, and vision for the future. The length of sponsorship will be different for each child. That's because sponsorship is affected by many factors: the child's age when sponsorship begins, the community's circumstances, progress in the sponsorship project, and more. It is a joyful moment in sponsorship when you see your child healthy, self-reliant and God honoring, ready to leave sponsorship behind.
